Loving Leather

I have been thinking about buying a leather jacket, I know its crazy, but in a way isn’t it in the same boat as the little black dress? It’s always been around and I think that there can definitely be a place for it in my closet. I have been looking around for some new designs on the runway to copy for myself. I recently saw this cute cinched piece worn by Heroes star Hayden Panettiere. What do you think?

Black is Back

The little black dress is like a fairytale is its own right. It’s been a rule of fashion to have one in your closet at all times. It’s simple, stylish, and doesn’t have to be expensive. Luckily for us there are multiple cuts, lengths, and versions of this dress out on the market. It can be fitted, strapless, a v-neck, scoop-neck, or even a ruffled tube dress. There are several options to fit your own personal style, but if you need a visual check these out here.

Cushy Coats

In preparation for the upcoming winter months, I’ve began looking at coats that are warm and fashionable. There are a lot of coats that look great but are thin, and give no insulation during the cold months. A good way to have style and not freeze to death is by investing in a trench coat. I’m not talking about the Inspector Gadget kind either. I’m thinking more of the knee length versions I’ve seen stars such as Halle Berry wear on the streets of New York. You can get them in basic colors, or with a pattern like plaid. They are always in style and worth the money.

Be an Accessory

We all know that for any outfit, accessories are key. They can make an otherwise ordinary outfit look like a work of art. Some staples that every girl should have are earrings, sunglasses, bangles, and a cute necklace. They don’t have to be ridiculously expensive either. You can go to Claire’s or any cheap jewelry store and pick these items up. You can get them in silver, gold, black, or even red, but be careful. Some bright colors may be too much, and you want to look tasteful not tacky.

We Invented the Remix

This post is for all the hip hop lovers of the world. I’ve done a post on glam rock fashionistas, so it is only fair if I do one for those of you who are into hip hop. The style is all about being laid back and comfortable, so sneakers are a must! Old school hip hop fans know that in the 1980’s Addidas (shell-toed of course), and Pumas were the staple for any outfit. Also, you need the bomber jacket, reminiscent of New York’s everyday street appeal. With these items you are sure to embody the true feel of the hip hop culture.

Honor Roll

The preppy seems to be very popular nowadays, bringing a new meaning to the term “oxford sweater.” Fitted blazers, stripes, and fitted cardigan sweaters are becoming a staple for the season. The traditional button up shirt, and layered turtle neck can definitely fit in with this trend. The preppy look was an evident theme throughout the Balenciaga fashion show this fall, with slightly fitted cargo pants, and heels, it’s an interesting take on an old school style.

Is Plaid Bad?

This is a severe issue with me that I have to approach head on. The issue of whether plaid can be worn as a legitimate print that doesn’t involve leprechauns, Lucky Charms, or its grunged out cousin flannel. This is has been brought to my attention, because I have actually seen an item that is plaid, and cute! There is this cropped pea coat from Old Navy that has been released for the Fall and it is gorgeous and affordable. Check it out for yourself here, and let me know what you think!

Army Brat

Camouflage is something that comes and goes in the fashion world. One day it’s hot and the next it’s a definite faux paux.  But for now its back and I want to introduce some ways to sport the army look without having to become G.I. Jane. Using a lot of earth tones such as army greens and browns are nice ways to add the military feel to any ensemble. You can easily accessorize with boots, aviators, or even a little military pendant on a necklace or shirt. With these subtle touches, I’m sure you’ll capture everyone’s ATTENTION!!

Sheer Comforts

With the Fall season approaching, we are all transitioning from our tanks and tees to sweaters and jackets. Sweaters usually get a bad wrap for being dumpy and uncomfortable, but there is a way to dress for the weather and still look great. There are several styles you can invest in such as cardigans, pullovers, dresses, boots, scarves, hats, and even sweater bags! They are comfortable, warm, and can look great, enjoy!

Rock Star Glam

Even though it’s a bit much for me, I do realize that a lot of you guys are into the whole punk rock/emo scene. So, I decided to write a post just for you! A major element in glam rock is shock value, so a lot of the pieces that you wear have to stand out. What better way to do that than with animal prints?! Leopard and cheetah spots or tiger and zebra stripes, you name it, you can use it. Just make sure that you pair that shirt, jacket, or pant with a dark, simple piece to bring it all together. Even though you’re wild child, you can still look polished.
